Entry Limit

There is a limit of 105 entries for this competition.

Each entrant is limited to 3 entries for this competition.

Pay Entry Fees

After creating your account and adding your entries to the system, you must pay your entry fee(s). Accepted payment methods are:

  • Cash
  • Check, made out to Midnight Homebrewers' League
  • Credit/debit card and e-check, via PayPal

Entry Acceptance Rules

Please submit two (2) bottles for each entry.

Bottles may have raised lettering (such as Sam Adams bottles).  However, all other labeling should be removed, except for a competition entry label.  Bottle caps with printing must be blacked out with a permanent marker.

Entry labels must be attached to each bottle with Rubber Bands Only.  Bottles with tape, glue, or any other adhesive method will NOT be judged and entry fees will not be refunded.  Thanks for your cooperation with this.

Acceptable bottles:

  1. Any color standard crown-capped beer bottles up to 12 oz.;
  2. 375 ml. corked and caged Belgian beer bottles (NOT large 750 ml Belgian bottles or 22-oz. Bombers);
  3. Raised-lettering on bottles is OK.  All other labeling must be removed.

Packing and Shipping

Carefully pack your entries in a sturdy box. Line the inside of your carton with a plastic trash bag. Partition and pack each bottle with adequate packaging material. Please do not over pack!

Write clearly: Fragile. This Side Up. on the package. Please only use bubble wrap as your packing material.

Enclose each of your bottle labels in a small zip-top bag before attaching to their respective bottles. This way it makes it possible for the organizer to identify specifically which entry has broken if there is damage during shipment.

Every reasonable effort will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have broken to make arrangements for sending replacement bottles.

If you live in the United States, please note that it is illegal to ship your entries via the United States Postal Service (USPS). Private shipping companies have the right to refuse your shipment if they are informed that the package contains glass and/or alcoholic beverages. Be aware that entries mailed internationally are often required by customs to have proper documentation. These entries might be opened and/or returned to the shipper by customs officials at their discretion. It is solely your responsibility to follow all applicable laws and regulations.

Best of Show

The Best Of Show winning brewer will have his or her recipe scaled up and brewed commercially by DuClaw Brewing Company for draft sales at Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants throughout Maryland.

The name of the winning homebrew is subject to the approval of the brewery.

No financial benefit is derived from winning the Best of Show prize.

Awards

Prize Categories will be established by the Competition Organizers, depending on the number, and categories, of entries received.  Prize Categories may consist of combined beer categories.

Ribbons and/or prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and (subject to the number of available prizes) 3rd Place in each Prize Category.  

Qualification for a prize, regardless of placement in any Prize Category, may require a minimum score at the discretion of the Competition Organizer.

Entrants do NOT need to be present at the Festival to win.
